Linda and Ron Carignan
— Olympia —

Linda Carignan

I grew up in Aberdeen and moved to Olympia when she was in the sixth grade. After graduation, I helped open Sears at South Sound Center. I was a stay-at-home Mom after we adopted our two children, Courtney and Chad. I went back to work after they finished high school, first as a teacher’s aide at an elementary school, and retiring as an office assistant for our dentist. I make greeting cards as a hobby and teach a card class at a senior living facility.

Ron Carignan

One of the founding members of Salish Sea MINI, I grew up in Tacoma until we moved to Olympia when I was a Junior in high school. After graduation, I joined the Navy and served three WESTPAC tours aboard the USS Constellation. After Linda and I were married, I received my Associate degree in Data Processing and spent the next 40 years working for the state (DOP, WSP, DIS, OFM, and DES), starting as a programmer and ending as a Data Architect. Most of those years were spent working on the state’s financial systems. In my spare time, I was the course coordinator for the Capital City Marathon and coached our kids’ youth soccer teams. I am now on the planning committee and handle the registration for the Western Washington All British Field Meet.
We are enjoying retirement, motoring around and attending multiple MINI events around the country (MINIs in the Mountain and MINI Takes the States [Colorado], MINIs in the Ozarks [Arkansas], multiple Mini Meets – Bend and Hood River [Oregon], Lake Tahoe, San Diego, and Santa Rosa [California], and Abbotsford [British Columbia]. We also attended East Meets West Mini Meet in Snowmass Village, Colorado.

Our MINIs

2004 MINI Cooper S JCW

Chili-S

We waited for our first MINI for nine months and nine days and have fun with it ever since we took delivery. And our first trip down Lolo Pass was fun.

Rowan

Rowan (Little Red One) is my early retirement present. It’s a great drive, especially with the top down, but “She who must be obeyed” has a rule that the top can only be down when the temperature reaches 60 degrees.

Daisy

Linda finally has her own MINI and even lets Ron drive it occasionally… but he gets to wash Daisy.
